About the Colloquium
The monthly South Asia Colloquium, under the aegis of the Triangle South Asia Consortium, began meeting informally in 1987 and met 118 straight months before a break; the colloquium continues today as one of the intellectual centers of the group. These informal sessions to review works-in-progress were and continue generally to be held at the home of one of the members in an effort to overcome barriers to interinstitutional collaboration and that tradition holds. The colloquium and its social hour prompted faculty to cooperate in team-teaching, to co-author and co-edit publications, and to develop workshops and seminars.
