INSTRUCTIONS
Completed applications must include:
o Application cover sheet (see below)
o One- to two-page, single-spaced project statement indicating:
1. title of proposed project
2. description of research, conference or language/methods training
3. specific information on research location, conference site or training program
4. research, conference or training plans
5. significance of proposed project for future research
o Bibliography (maximum two pages—required for research & conference applications only)
o Detailed budget accompanied by a one-page budget narrative. The budget on this application should reflect the entire cost of the project and not just that portion requested from the Center for International Studies. Students are encouraged to apply for additional awards from Duke and other sources. The composite award total from all sources may not exceed the amount indicated in the proposed budget.
o CV and official Duke transcript
o A supporting letter from your dissertation committee chair, faculty advisor or director of graduate studies, and a second letter from a faculty member familiar with your work.
