Through a series of works exploring the life and legacy of Dr. John Hope Franklin, Stacy-Lynn Waddell employs the transformative media of heat and fire in an attempt to articulate the complexities and realities of a life lived in service and in search of the American Dream.
Stacy-Lynn Waddell was born in 1966 in Washington, D.C. She received her MFA from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 2007. Waddell has participated in exhibitions at venues including the Greenhill Center for North Carolina Art, Greensboro, NC; Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA), Winston-Salem, NC; Bryce’s Barbershop, Olympia, WA; and the Ackland Art Museum, Chapel Hill, NC.
